Competition Held Among Organized Women’s Groups
A project titled “Supporting Eritrean Refugees Who Are Victims of Gender-Based Violence Living in Addis Ababa,” implemented by ECD with financial support from the US Embassy, trained 25 women in hotel operations and garment technical and vocational training. These trainees were organized into four groups and prepared business proposals to compete for startup material support from the project. The group members then presented their business ideas to the judges and competed against each other. Ultimately, two groups (Fikir Laundry and Asmera Garment) with a total of 11 members were selected from the four groups based on the judges’ evaluations. The materials, estimated at 113,200 ETB, will be provided to the selected groups. During the competition, representatives from the Addis Ababa City Administration Finance Bureau, the Women, Children, and Social Affairs Bureau, and the Refugee Association were present to observe the process. Finally, they expressed their gratitude to the organizations for their support of migrant women. #US Embassy, #GBV, #ECD
